WJCU’s 3rd annual Blizzard Bash benefit concert helped raise over $600 in cash and food collection for the Hunger Network of Greater Cleveland. The outstanding concert featured five acts donating their services to raise money and awareness about the situation many local families find themselves in, especially during the holidays.
The Blizzard Bash proved to be a true showcase of some of the best musical talent Northeast Ohio has to offer. Kent, Ohio’s The Speedbumps provided an amazing mix of acoustic guitar, classical cello and bass, drums, and vocals giving a unique sound and a relaxing club atmosphere.
More of a fan of the rock/alternative genre? Then the Blizzard Bash delivered better than Santa ever could. We brought in two of Cleveland’s hottest bands, Quanta and Hollywood Shuffle and rocked on. Hollywood Shuffle played hit after hit decked out in proper Christmas attire with Santa, elves, and reindeer included! Never a band to disappoint, Quanta brought fans to their feet playing several hits from their latest CD.
And WJCU also had the solo acoustic genre covered well with 88.7FM DJ Peter Niro and John Carroll senior Tom Haren. Both standout musicians got the night started on a good note singing both well-known hits and their own original songs.
WJCU is proud to help out the communities we serve and the listeners we broadcast to. Putting an end to hunger and poverty in our region is a difficult goal to achieve, but in no way impossible. Working together we can all help out, even little by little making a big difference. Poverty and hunger know no age limit. But generosity knows no boundaries.
Thank you again to all of those who attended, donated money, dropped off food to our volunteers, and most especially to our fantastic bands and musicians–your willingness to donate your talent to help those in need is a true testament to the power of generosity.
