WJCU Premieres New Web Promo Video

88.7FM is premiering its newest web promotional video on the popular Youtube.com website starring some of the station’s most popular DJs and on-air personalities.

Watch the 60 second video here and see the likes of Heights 88.7FM DJs Ben Adams (Thursdays 1-3 pm), Holly Duns (Thursdays 10-12:30), and Station Manager Chris Hooton (Thursdays 8-10 am).

Making cameo appearances for the genre shows, Sports Director Sean Fagan (Blue Streak Sports broadcasts and Mondays 8-9:30 pm), Programming Director Diana Orabovic (Wednesdays 6-8 pm), Joe Madigan (Tuesdays 6-8 pm and Saturdays 4:30-6:30 pm), and Peter Niro (Mondays 6-8 pm) join DJ Upwords (Tuesdays 10p-12a) and La Voz (Sundays 8-9 pm) showing the diversity of programs we are proud to produce here in our University Heights studios.

Let’s face it. The music from the U.K. has played a major role in American pop culture for almost 45 years now. In fact many bands from across the pond have become legends in American society. And now WJCU is out to salute them. Join Chris Wannagat, WJCU’s connoisseur of British music, on Wednesday March 5th from Midnight-2 a.m. as he takes you on a trip through time starting with the dawn of the British Invasion of the 1960s to the stars invading our airwaves today including some artists who have yet to grace American soil as well. So grab a pint and enjoy the very best of what the U.K. has to offer!

Join WJCU for our biggest community fundraiser of the year, the 3rd annual Blizzard Bash benefit concert. This year we are going bigger with even more bands and an expanded venue!

Join us TONIGHT, FRIDAY NOVEMBER 30th (Doors open at 6:45) in the Marinello Little Theatre on the campus of John Carroll Univeristy in University Heights (Need Directions?) and watch the musical stylings of TOM HAREN, HOLLYWOOD SHUFFLE, THE SPEEDBUMPS, PETER NIRO and QUANTA. As always, all proceeds go straight to the Hunger Network of Greater Cleveland. Tickets are just $5 or FREE with 5 canned goods.

Can’t make it to the show but still want to help out? Drop off your canned goods tonight at the Belvoir Blvd. entrance to John Carroll University and look for the WJCU sign by the entrance to the RecPlex Center. Volunteers will be standing by!

“Metal on Metal” Celebrating 25 years of rock this Saturday!

In 1982 a DJ named Bill Peters started a rock metal show on 88.7FM. Today, 25 years later, he continues to rock.

“Metal on Metal” is one of the longest running programs in WJCU’s history and continues to draw more and more listeners every week. To celebrate this remarkable milestone in Cleveland broadcasting The Beachland Ballroom is hosting “WJCU and Metal on Metal’s 25th Anniversary Concert” this Saturday, September 15th. Doors opening at 5:00 p.m.

Don’t miss your chance to see this show packed with great metal bands featuring Raven, Anvil, The Exalted Piledriver, and Destructor with special guests Manimals, Soulless, and Lick the Blade.
