Friday night’s winner moves on to the second round and will face either Guilford or Christopher Newport Colleges on March 6th. The loser is done for the season.

After a week-long celebration, we’re just getting warmed up as this morning the Footprints For Fatima 5K Run and 1-mile walk will take off around University Heights. Stop by–WJCU will be there DJing the festivities as the racers cross the finish line!

Then this afternoon all eyes turn to the gridiron as the John Carroll University Blue Streaks take on Ohio Athletic Conference rival Marietta College. Join our Sports Department with the pre-game show here on WJCU starting at 1:30 p.m. EST with a 2:00 p.m. kickoff.

Not only will you get a great game, but the airing will mark our Sports Director Sean Fagan’s premiere role at calling play-by-play action for a televised sporting event. Sean will call all the action on the ice from the Gilmour Academy Ice Arena.

Sports announcing is nothing new to Sean, who has taken to the mic for John Carroll games on WJCU since his freshman year. Sean’s ability to jump between broadcast media not only shows off his talent, but it gives sports fans a glimpse of the next announcer they are certain to hear from in the future.

Sunday’s game is also unique in that many of the behind-the-scenes crew positions will be taken up by JCU students. Applying skills learned in the classroom, this group of students is gaining real-world experience to produce athletic events like Sunday’s hockey game on SportsTime Ohio.

Our next game is this Saturday December 15th at 2:00 p.m. as the JCU Blue Streaks take on the Ohio Northern Polar Bears. Tune in to 88.7FM or listen anywhere on your computer online!
