The Outspoken Cyclist – 2/19/2011

Between the fact that it’s Radiothon time at WJCU, and preparing for a very special guest,  we’ve barely had time to breathe this week. Settle in for an exciting, if slightly hypoxic edition of The Outspoken Cyclist.

We couldn’t be more pleased to have U.S. Secretary of Transportation Ray LaHood as our first guest on today’s show! Yes folks, the head of the Department of Transportation is not only a cyclist, but he understands that cars and trucks are not the only viable forms of transportation in the 21st century. After you listen to the interview, check out Secretary LaHood’s excellent blog.

In the second half of the hour, we get a bit of history and a peek into what the future might hold for “useful bikes” from Joe Breeze, head of Breezer Bikes. Joe’s personal and professional story is fascinating, and you can hear it directly from the man himself this week on The Outspoken Cyclist.

And don’t forget you can still make an online Radiothon pledge to support WJCU. The pledge page will be open for another week or two at wjcu.org. The station needs the support of its listeners to keeping bringing you programming like this that you can’t get anywhere else. We appreciate all our listeners, and we’ll appreciate you that much more if you make even a modest donation to WJCU.
