Cleveland Historical Mobile App

This edition of Heights Now looks at the Cleveland Historical mobile phone app.

The Center for Public History + Digital Humanities at Cleveland State University has developed a mobile phone application that puts historical information in the palm of your hand. People can read stories, see photographs and view videos about historical sites in the Cleveland area. The free app is available through Android Market on Android devices, and the App Store on the iPhone, and iPod touch. For more information visit www.clevelandhistorical.org

Born in September of 2006 and first on the air on Jan 18, 2007, The Rock is quite possibly the best rock and roll radio show in town. Featuring a mix of hard alternative, metal, and metalcore. Gene is your host, and he knows how to keep it rockin' much better than all those "other shows". From local acts to nationally signed, brand new fresh out of the box music to the classics, The Rock has it all! Wordplay

Wordplay is an offbeat mix of poetry, comedy, and an ongoing exploration of the possibilities of the spoken word. Wordplay's opening monologue blends music and language (and sometimes sound effects) into a surreal, funny, often darkly serious meditation on the state of one man's struggles to live in the bewildering world of contemporary America. The show also features guest appearances by local poets and nationally known writers. But the real strength of Wordplay is the interaction between co-hosts George Bilgere and John Donoghue. The two poets read short, interesting poems by important writers. They banter about poetry, argue about it, and generally give each other a hard time. A Plain Dealer article about Wordplay called the show "the Click and Clack of poetry." Not a bad description.
