The Outspoken Cyclist – 1/22/2011

The world of  cycling is full of innovators, and this week we have a long talk with one of the best in the business. Craig Calfee has designed and built bike frames in both carbon fiber and bamboo. You’ll be amazed by his journey, and what he’s doing for the world today.

Closer to home, Eric Overton dropped in to talk about ultra-distance cycling, and his annual series of Pre-Season Long Distance Preparation Rides in the Cleveland area. Eric is gearing up for his 10th consecutive Calvin’s 12-Hour Challenge, and 10th consecutive National 24-Hour Challenge. You can get more information about all these rides directly from Eric at: eric(dot)overton(at)yahoo(dot)com.

Finally, we check in with Patty Stevens of the Cleveland Metroparks to find out what’s new in the Emerald Necklace. The Metroparks is holding a series of strategic planning meetings Tuesday, Jan 25th @ Rocky River Nature Center, Wednesday, January 26th @ CanalWay Center, & Thursday, January 27th @ North Chagrin Nature Center. All meetings are from 6:30-8:30pm.
